Instructions for Assignment 2 and Final Project

9 September, 2008

For Assignment 2, please follow instructions in the Unit Guide in Page 26 – 28. Please pay attention to the industry standards and read the articles in the Unit Reader from Week 3 onwards to get the information on script planning and writing. This assignment requires you to visualize your final product so that you can indicate the technical instructions. Don’t forget to read out your script to make sure you have used the conventions well.

DEADLINE: 19 SEPTEMBER


For your final assignment:


Radio

Work in a group of 2 (two) to produce a 15-minute radio programme. In this programme, you can choose to include a combination of various items, among them and not limited to:

· Current Affairs

· Music

· Literature

· Film review

· Personality Interview


news is a compulsory item

Example: if you choose to have news and film review, you may have up to 3 minutes of news and allocate up to 6 minutes for the film review. Or, you could have a full news and current affairs show that can include the top 3 news item and a full length analysis, interview on current affairs. You MUST include time calls and music as well as general chats during the programme.


For the submission, you must hand in a CD of the radio programme in WAV or MP3 format, a full written script of the news bulletins and introductions to interviews etc and a sheet that contains the programme rundown for the 15 minutes. Refer to the guide in page 47 for ideas.

TV

Work in a group of 4 (four) to produce a 10-minute programme that consists can be ANY of the following:

· News and Current Affairs

· News Feature

· Documentary

· Biz Show

· Morning show

Ensure that you have identified in the team, the producer, the camera person, editor, scriptwriter.


For the submission, you must hand in a CD of the TV programme, a full written script of the news bulletins and introductions to interviews etc and a sheet that contains the programme rundown for the 10 minutes. Refer to the guide in page 56 for ideas.
